Terms of Service

Who we are

ShipShelf is operated by SIA 2A2M, a limited liability company (SIA) registered in the Republic of Latvia (“we”, “us”, the “operator”). These terms form an agreement between you and SIA 2A2M. You can reach us at support@shipshelf.co.

Your account

You need an account to submit listings, vote, review or comment. You must be at least 16, give an email address you control, and keep your credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it is compromised.

One person, one account. Additional accounts created to vote for your own listings, to review your own product, or to evade a suspension will be removed along with the activity they generated.

Your content and the licence you grant

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You grant SIA 2A2M a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting ShipShelf — which includes listing pages, category and comparison pages, leaderboards, the RSS feeds, the weekly digest and social preview images.

This licence exists so the service can function; it is not a transfer of ownership, and it ends for future use when you delete the content or your account, save for copies in backups until they age out and for anything already sent in an email that has left our systems.

You confirm you have the rights to what you upload, including logos and screenshots, and that publishing it here infringes nobody else's rights.

Acceptable use

Follow the Listing Guidelines. In particular, do not:

• manipulate votes, reviews or rankings — including vote rings, incentivised voting and paid reviews;
• submit a product you have no right to list, or misrepresent what it does;
• post fabricated reviews or testimonials, whether about your product or a competitor's;
• upload malware, or link to a destination different from the one you declare;
• scrape at abusive rates, circumvent the anti-bot measures, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
• publish unlawful, harassing or deliberately misleading content.

We may remove content, withdraw badges, suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. Where it is proportionate we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.

Curation and moderation

Publication is at our editorial discretion. We may reject, unpublish or edit listings that break the guidelines, and we may feature products we think deserve attention. Ranking is determined by the mechanics described on the leaderboard — upvotes inside a window — and placement is not for sale. The one paid service, Priority Launch, is described below: it changes no ranking, and it is labelled on the listing.

Every listing on ShipShelf is submitted by a maker. We do not add products from public information on your behalf, and there are no editor-created listings. If a listing about your product ever appears that you did not submit, tell us and we will remove it.

Paid services

Priority Launch is a one-time purchase for a single listing. It does two things: the listing publishes without waiting in the curation queue, and it may book a launch day whose free slots are already taken, from a small allowance reserved for priority listings. It does not change where the listing ranks — the leaderboard, trending and every feed order by upvotes exactly as before — and the listing carries a visible “Priority launch” label so nobody has to guess.

The price is shown before you pay, in euro, and includes VAT where it applies. Payment is taken by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page; we never see or store your card details, and Stripe's terms govern the payment itself. Stripe emails your receipt and, if you enter a business address and VAT number at checkout, an invoice.

Right of withdrawal. Priority Launch is a digital service that begins as soon as payment succeeds. Before you pay you are asked to acknowledge this and to agree that, in line with Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal because performance has started with your express consent. We do not start the purchase without that acknowledgement.

Rules still apply. Paying skips the queue, not the guidelines. A flagged listing is still looked at by a person first, and a listing that breaks the rules can still be taken down. If we refuse to publish a listing you bought Priority Launch for, or take it down for a guideline breach before it has launched, we refund the fee in full. Once a listing has launched the fee is not refundable, though you are always welcome to write to support@shipshelf.co about anything that seems wrong and we will look.

Badges and verification

Badges we issue — verification, launch-day placings, awards — remain ours to grant and withdraw. You may embed them on your own site while they are accurate. A verification badge attests only that the listing owner demonstrated control of the linked site at a point in time; it is not an endorsement of the product, its security or its claims.

Third-party products

ShipShelf is a directory. The products listed are built and operated by other people, and we do not endorse, audit or warrant them. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them. Anything you buy or install from a link here is a matter between you and that provider.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. If we discontinue ShipShelf entirely we will give reasonable notice so you can export your content.

Disclaimer and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShipShelf is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and the liability of SIA 2A2M for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, for a free account, is nothing.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for rights you have as a consumer under mandatory provisions of Latvian and EU law.

Ending the agreement

You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard, which ends this agreement and removes your content. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. The sections on content licence, disclaimers, liability and governing law survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. The date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the product before they take effect. Continuing to use ShipShelf after that means you accept the revised terms; if you would rather not, delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably falls to the courts of the Republic of Latvia, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules that may allow you to bring proceedings where you live. The Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Centre (Patērētāju tiesību aizsardzības centrs, ptac.gov.lv) handles consumer disputes with Latvian traders and can refer you to an out-of-court dispute resolution body.
